As Dean at the College of Education and Human Services, it is my privilege to connect with alumni to share how we are making an impact –and empowering students to make the most of their education.
Thanks to support and generosity of our donors, Montclair State University continues to deliver rigorous programs and life-changing opportunities. Some of the exciting developments at the College of Education and Human Services include:
- Earning high marks: A testament to Montclair State’s growing national and state reputation as a research doctoral university, our online Master of Arts in Educational Leadership program has been ranked No. 21 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
- Establishing the new Research on Youth Thriving and Evaluation (RYTE) Institute: In conducting high-quality research and evaluation, the Institute will enhance our visibility as a leader in research on out-of-school as well as in-school youth character development.
- Engaging faculty: The Nutrition and Food Studies program emphasizes applied experience and faculty members recently were awarded a USDA grant to study farmer's market and urban agricultural alternatives as well as a Fulbright Scholar Award to study K-12 food in school food service in Brazil. The program also made an impact on campus by leading the effort with students for the College of Education and Human Services to open the University's first lactation room.
- Being selected for a national study of exemplary teacher preparation programs: Our teacher education program was one of seven programs selected for the study conducted by the Learning Policy Institute, a national research and policy organization that informs policies to improve learning for all students.
