As Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, it is my privilege to connect with alumni and share how we are making an impact – and empowering students to make the most of their education.
Thanks to support and generosity of our donors, Montclair State University continues to deliver rigorous programs and life-changing opportunities. Some of the exciting developments at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences include:
• Expanded offerings: In September we will launch a new Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities – it is one of a very few degree programs in the nation and the first interdisciplinary bachelor's degree in our College.
• International appeal: Montclair State has a growing national and state reputation as a research doctoral university, and we’re attracting students from near and far for our PhD program in Clinical Psychology. The first cohort represents students with BA and MA degrees in Psychology from Montclair State as well as others from Arkansas, Maryland, Illinois, and internationally from Rwanda and India. More than half of the cohort identifies as African American, Hispanic/Latina or Asian American.
• Completed degrees: Donor generosity directly contributed to student success, making it possible for 14 students to graduate in January and May of 2017 who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to register for their final classes because of financial challenges.
With thanks,
Robert S. Friedman
