The Pre-Law Program Fund is established to support initiatives that increase the preparedness of pre-law students for law school and success on their path to a legal career. In collaboration with Montclair State’s Pre-Law Society, the Pre-Law Program is pleased offer students an annual Mock Trial Competition, New Jersey’s Law School Admissions Day, Court Case Spotlight Series, visits to law schools, and the U.S. Capitol. Your gift will help us improve and expand upon these initiatives and ultimately, produce positive outcomes for our pre-law students. A gift to the Pre-Law Program Fund directly supports pre-law students at Montclair State University and in New Jersey.
The Pre-Law Program is a co-curricular program that serves over 700 students across the University by offering individual advising appointments to assist pre-law students with course selection, internship strategy, the law school admission process, and law career exploration. Thanks to the support of our esteemed faculty members, many of whom have legal practice experience, our students have the academic foundation to help them explore their interests and solve complex problems. The Pre-Law Program aims to bridge the classroom experience with the skills needed in the practice of law by introducing students to internship opportunities that are meaningful and align with their interests.
Your contribution will allow the Montclair State Pre-Law Fund to offer:
• Stipends to pre-law students with public interest law internships
• Leadership and Professionalism Workshops
• Summer LSAT Prep Bootcamp
• Scholarships for the high school Pre-Law Summer Academy on Environmental Law and Native
American & Indigenous Peoples’ Rights
• Case Materials for the Mock Trial Competition
• Transportation to law schools for guided visits, and more!
In addition to supporting the Pre-Law fund with a monetary gift, we greatly value the time and experience our alumni, and members of the Attorney Alumni Network (AAN), can share with students. Members of the AAN, may choose to serve to as a coach or judge for the Mock Trial Competition, a guest speaker about legal practice, and mentor for our pre-law students. To sign-up for the AAN and volunteer to assist with the Pre-Law Program, please contact Linda Kavan, associate director for Alumni Engagement, at kavanl@montclair.edu.
With your support, the Pre-Law Program can offer a rigorous and engaging experience to aspiring law students who want to make a positive impact in NJ and beyond.
