WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship
90.3 WMSC FM is an alternative rock and talk college radio station owned by Montclair State University, largely operated by university students and supported by the School of Communication and Media. The station broadcasts locally at 90.3 MHz, worldwide via their website wmscradio.com, and is also available via the iHeartRadio app.

There are currently 13 student directors and 13 assistant directors who oversee the station’s operation in the areas of programming, news, sports, music, production, promotions,  website, social media, engineering, morning show production, office management, and video. The station currently has more than 80 disc-jockeys, hosts & contributors, and more than 600 general members, all student volunteers.

Students who participate at WMSC have, as a result, obtained competitive internships and entry level jobs at commercial stations such as WDHA, 1010 WINS, 101.5FM, WCBS880, iHeartRadio and SiriusXM among others.

The WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship & Training Fund has been established to assist outstanding Montclair State University sophomore, junior, and senior students in defraying tuition costs and to afford them registration and access to industry training.  During Fall 2023, WMSC is looking to send at least 6 students to the National Student Electronic Media Convention in Orlando Florida, and at least nine deserving students to the National Association of Broadcasters Radio Show in New York City.

The WMSC scholarship is awarded annually to one or more students who have demonstrated considerable achievement in the department and have significant potential for future creative development in the broadcast arts. The WMSC Excellence in Radio Scholarship and Training Fund seeks to acknowledge and reward the hard work of undergraduate students who volunteer their time and efforts to the radio station and embody the hard work and spirit of Excellence in College Radio.
