This campaign carries forward the initiatives of former Dean Peter Kingstone, whose leadership helped to expand students’ access to experiential learning opportunities. Throughout his tenure, Dean Kingstone championed the belief that internships and experiential learning are essential to students’ career readiness, professional skill development, and long-term success. For many of our students, however, the greatest barrier to participating in internships is financial. Because many internships are unpaid, students often face an impossible choice between gaining valuable professional experience and maintaining the jobs they rely on. This challenge is especially significant for the students we serve, many of whom balance multiple jobs while pursuing their degrees. By providing stipends to support unpaid internships, this fund removes a critical financial obstacle and makes these transformative opportunities more accessible. The CHSS Unpaid Internship Stipend directly addresses this need by offering financial support to students completing at least 120 hours in an unpaid internship, helping cover everyday expenses while they gain career-building experience. This Giving Day campaign not only honors Dean Kingstone’s vision and leadership but also ensures that his commitment to student success continues to shape the lives of our students. By investing in this initiative, donors help preserve a critical initiative that empowers students to pursue meaningful experiential learning opportunities that can change the trajectory of their futures.
