Professor George McDonough died suddenly on July 31, 2015 of a heart attack. He cared greatly about education and young people. George taught several courses at MSU, including Foreign Relations, American Government and Politics, Intro to Public Administration and the American Presidency to name a few. He touched many lives as a husband, father, friend and colleague. As a professor, he was universally admired and respected. Those who were fortunate enough to have been a student in one of his classes will recall the vibrant manner in which he engaged them and caused them to think about themselves and the world around them. After his untimely death, a few friends established the George T. McDonough Memorial Scholarship to honor him, and to help a deserving Political Science and Law student continue his/her studies. A scholarship has been awarded annually since George’s passing.
This year, those same friends have set up a “One Day for Montclair” challenge. They will match all donations made on April 23rd to the MSU George T. McDonough Memorial Scholarship dollar for dollar up to $1,000. So please, be as generous as you can.
