The Montclair State University Women’s Basketball program has built a tradition rooted in excellence, resilience, and sustained success, establishing itself as one of the premier programs in NCAA Division III - Legacy Lives Here. From its early foundation under coaches Cathy Paskert, Jill Jeffery, and Alice DeFazio, the program rose to national prominence with its breakthrough AIAW Final Four appearance in 1978, led by legendary standout Carol Blazejowski.
Over the decades, that foundation has been carried forward by an elite lineage of student-athletes, including Melissa Tobie, Carolyn Savio, Katie Sire, Kim Wilson, and Nickie Carter, and so many more—each contributing to a culture of competitiveness and pride.
In the modern era under Karin Harvey, the Red Hawks have elevated that legacy even further, capturing seven New Jersey Athletic Conference championships and earning eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Final Four run in 2015. Through every era, the program’s identity has remained consistent—defined not only by wins, but by leadership, academic excellence, and a lasting alumni impact.
Head Coach Karin Harvey:
“On behalf of our women’s basketball program, thank you for your continued support and belief in the standard we continue to uphold and advance. Because of you, our student-athletes experience so much more than the game—from everyday resources to transformational opportunities like our team trip to Puerto Rico this past season.
These experiences shape our culture, strengthen our connection as a team, and create lifelong memories that define the Montclair State experience. Your generosity is felt in every practice, every game, and every moment we share together.
It’s always inspiring to see the pride and energy across campus during One Day for Montclair, and we are grateful to be part of something that brings the entire community together in support of our student-athletes.”
Thank you again for being such an important part of our program.
