Questions and Answers

Below you will find answers to many common questions about Montclair State Gives.

What is Giving Day?

Now in its sixth year, Giving Day is an annual university-wide, one-day fundraising event designed to inspire students, alumni and friends to make a gift to their favorite people, places, and programs on campus that are meaningful to them.

When is Giving Day 2021?

Giving Day 2021 will take place on Thursday, April 29.

Why should I participate in Giving Day?

Philanthropy has become an increasingly critical part of the university’s support. It funds many scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend Montclair State. When you give to Montclair State, you make great things happen. You provide opportunities and create possibilities. Gifts to Montclair State University have a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of our students by providing much needed support for scholarship, new programs, and new technologies. On Giving Day, these gifts are made even more impactful with challenge and matching gifts throughout the campaign. Every gift, large or small, makes a difference.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. The stated amount of your gift qualifies as a deductible charitable contribution. No goods or services were provided in return for your gift. If you make a donation, you will receive a receipt via email.

Can I make a gift via check or another method besides credit card?

Online gifts made via credit card have an immediate impact at Montclair State. By making your gift using our secure, online portal, your gift is also automatically counted into our campaign totals. However, if you prefer to mail your gift, please make checks payable to the Montclair State University Foundation, 1 Normal Avenue, Montclair, NJ, 07043. Please write Giving Day and include the designation in the memo line.

What will my gift support?

It's up to you! You can designate your gift to the scholarship, school/college, program/department, athletic team, student organization, or other area of campus that is most meaningful to you. Don't see it listed? If you do not see your preferred designation as an option, select "Other" and type it in.

What types of credit cards do you accept?

The Montclair State University Foundation accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

Do you accept matching gifts from my employer?
