As Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics, I see firsthand how philanthropic support makes an impact and allows us to provide transformational opportunities for our students—empowering them to succeed!

Thanks to the generous support of alumni, parents, friends, and corporate or foundation donors, Montclair State delivers unique, life-changing educational experiences. Here are a few examples of how gifts to CSAM are making a difference for our students.

Hands-on, experiential learning:

• HawkHack, our first-ever hackathon—the Computer Club hosted a 24-hour coding marathon for Montclair State students and others from the region to collaborate and compete on software projects and network with business representatives.
• Mario M. Casabona Future Scientists Awards—this annual STEM competition motivates and trains CSAM students to communicate scientific research effectively to the general public and non-science professionals, a critical skill for future success.
• Green Teams—during 10-week summer internships, interdisciplinary teams made up of students from Montclair State work with companies, municipalities and government agencies to address their sustainability issues and deliver actionable results.
